fresh copy, right this way

Just call me your copy guide & let’s connect.

Whether it be fate or you simply stumbled onto my little corner of the internet (thanks to the Instagram or Google algorithm gods), this is your chance to pick my brain. Discovery call, coffee chat, brain dump, call it what you will. I’m here to find out how I can help with your copywriting needs (or point you in a good direction).

The Discovery Call

We’ve hopped on a call, we’ve connected and now it’s time for me to send over next steps. This post-call email will have next steps like: copywriting packages for you to choose from (if you haven’t already decided), pricing and payment plans, plus more details on your proposed project. Communication is a super important part of my process, so this is just another way I outline everything so you never feel in the dark about my copywriting process.

The Email Proposal

Once you’ve confirmed your project and payment plan, I’ll send over our copywriting contract and a link to schedule our strategy call! You’ll pay your initial invoice when scheduling our call, and then I send over a custom questionnaire for you to muse over before we meet.

The Contract & Setting Up Our Strategy Call

I call this the cozy call, because while strategy call sounds much more professional, it’s extremely important to me that my clients feel comfortable to dig deep. I want to know all about who you are as a business, the story that led you here and what lies at the heart of your brand. I ask aaaalllll the questions, doing my best to slip into your head and create a brand voice that feels like home. So come with a snack, some coffee or tea and a furry friend on your lap. The spark to your brand’s story starts here…

The Copy Call – [The Cozy Version]

This is the part where I do TONS of research on your industry, your craft and what inspires you. I pour over my notes. I drink a lot of coffee. I bleed at my keyboard (figuratively of course) and come up with something that moves you to tears. Ok, you don’t have to cry. BUT I do put my whole heart and soul into making sure it’s exactly what you’ve always been trying to say, but just haven’t found the words – until now.

The Writing

For the Copy Kindling Packages, you’ll receive your first draft of copy 7 days after our copy call. For the Spark Starter Package, you'll receive your first draft of the BVG 14 days after our Spark Starter Call. I deliver Brand Voice Guide copy in a shared Canva doc and website copy in a shared Google doc. Both are meant to be super collaborative, where you can edit, insert comments and all the feedback.

The Draft Delivery

Your thoughts and feedback are one of the most important parts of the copywriting process. Without it, a copywriter can’t know what resonates and what doesn’t. We simply can’t crawl into your head and write fiery copy without it.

Having been in college creative writing courses and working as an in-house copywriter for large brands, my skin is thicker than most – and I know first-hand how crucial the review process is. So I always encourage my clients to get as detailed and honest as possible. It’s where I thrive and where some of the best sparks can be found.

The Feedback (is the most important part)

Once you’re in love with every morsel of your website copy, the Google doc is all yours! Or, if we’re collabing with a website designer, I add them to both the Canva (if you have a BVG) and the Google doc. There, they can copy and paste all the copy they need and leave any feedback, questions or comments as they work through copy placement.

The Final Word(s)

Whether you’re working with a website designer or DIYing your website design, I’ll be on standby to make sure every word is a Goldilocks fit. I also check in regularly to see how things are going. I’ll offer an extra set of eyes during the final finessing stages when you’re gearing up to launch your website into the world.

In essence, I’m here for you long after I’ve written your copy. It’s my greatest joy to be my client’s go-to wordsmith even after their website is complete. We get to know each other so closely, you can bet I’ll be cheering you on no matter where your story leads.

The Afterword

Website Copywriting FAQs

A copywriter can technically hop into a project at any time – and I have experience working on website copy before and after website design. That said, most designers prefer having copy written before they start the branding or website design process. This is because your copy – the messaging you’re trying to convey – is the foundation for everything else. Therefore, if you can, hiring a copywriter a month before your web/branding designer begins is ideal. Earlier is always better.

However, 60% of my clients come to me because their designer is asking for copy and they’re stuck, stressed or overwhelmed by the thought of writing it all on their own. And while some copywriters refuse to work after design, my extensive copywriting background has made me super nimble. Don’t hesitate to reach out, and we can chat about where you are and how I can help.

Since offering my Spark Starter Package with the Brand Voice Guide in 2022, I’ve only had a handful of clients go for the base Copy Kindling Package without the guide. Why is it so popular? It's filled with all the things that inspire and remind you: "THIS is who we are and how I want to communicate every, single, day."

Even in the roughest entrepreneurship moments, this package is a guiding light leading you home to where you want to be. No more feeling lost at sea in what you're trying to say.

The clients who have gone with the Copy Kindling Package either already had a Brand Voice Guide written or had a very strong vision for their website and just needed someone to do all the nitty gritty writing of the copy. You can find examples of both types of projects in my copywriting portfolio here.

If you're interested in learning more, my DMs are always open or you can hop on a quick discovery call here! ✨

Yes! Depending on the package you choose, I’ll outline the different payment plan options and payment schedule. I also offer autopay so you never have to worry about missing a payment!

Let’s hop on a call to chat about your copywriting needs! Before I work with anyone, I require a call so we can chat in real time and ask as many questions needed to gauge if we’ll be a good fit for each other. Before our call, I also send a little bit more info about me, my packages, prices and process. I’m a proud over-communicator because I never want people to feel like they’re stumbling around in the dark, especially when it’s such an important business investment like copywriting.

Plus, Community is one of the core values of Write by Firelight, and genuine connection is everything. So let’s chat! Even if I’m not the best fit for you, I’m happy to point you in the direction of someone who is.

I’ve had the absolute honor of working with some incredible designers. They all have a very distinct vibe, but here are a few of my favorites:
⟡ Robyn at Wild Cacti Creative
Showit
I haven’t met a more creative website designer that genuinely takes your vision and goes wild with it. If you want a one-of-a-kind, distinctly you website, she’s your gal. She did, after all, design this one ;)

⟡ Jess at Still Life Studio
Squarespace
Jess is a true artist in every sense of the word, and offers some gorgeous Squarespace website design and some swoon-worthy templates for the DIY-ers (Folklore is my forever favorite).

⟡ Mckenna at The Hurcomb Collective
Showit
Mckenna has the dreamiest design style and is another kindred creative soul.
